PM Modi addresses farmers' rally in Karnataka


Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said the NDA government has increased the Minimum Support Price of crops by one-and-a-half times in 48 months of its rule to benefit farmers. He said the government is heading towards doubling MSP in five years.

Mr. Modi said, that his Government is working to change the fate of the country by changing the fortune of its villages and farmers. Addressing a farmers' rally at Devangere, in central Karnataka, he said, the plans of his Government are focused on farmers' welfare and agricultural growth.  

Mr. Modi said, Operation Green, launched by the Central Government, will usher in revolution in the cultivation of vegetable and fruits. 

The Prime Minister lashed out at Karnataka government for its alleged failure to utilise funds allocated by the Central Government. He listed out allocations made by Central Government under various schemes that remain unspent by the state Government. 

Mr. Modi said that 55 crore rupees under agriculture market intervention programme, 500 crore rupees under health schemes, 400 crore rupees under Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, upto 90 crore rupees under technical education, 100 crore rupees for watershed and 300 crore rupees under smart city remains unspent by the state.

Mr. Modi added,  that Central Government has taken scientific steps to double the income of farmers by 2022. Soil Health card he noted has reduced wasteful expenditure of farmers on fertilisers, pesticides and seeds. 

The Prime Minister said, the Centre has given 11,000 crore rupees to the state under Fasal Bima yojana. 

Criticising the Congress Government of the State, the Prime Minster said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah means ‘Sidha ruppaiah’, inferring that nothing in the state works without directly paying him the commission.
