Telangana Assembly speaker expels two Congress MLAs, suspends 11 for unruly behaviour

Telangana Assembly speaker Madhusudhanachary today expelled two congress members from the house and suspended 11 more Congress members, including the leader of the opposition Janareddy, from the rest of the session for their alleged unruly behavior during Governor's speech yesterday. Six Congress members have also been suspended from the Legislative Council for the rest of the budget session.

Komatireddy Venkatreddy and Sampath Kumar were expelled from the Assembly following their unruly behavior yesterday. They allegedly injured Legislative Council Chairman Swamy Gowd by hurling a headphone when the Governor was delivering his address to the Joint session of Legislature on the first day of the Budget Session. Eleven other Congress members were also suspended for their alleged misbehaviour during the same time.

Soon after the house met for the day this morning, the Speaker expressed his deep sense of anguish and pain over misbehavior by some members which he termed as anti-democratic. Quoting Legislature and Parliamentary Practices, Legislative Affairs Minister Harish Rao moved two separate resolutions to this effect which were passed by the House.

Later the Expelled and suspended Congress members were forced to leave the house by marshals. In the Legislative Council, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari proposed the resolution suspending the Congress members.

Speaking in the Assembly, Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao made it clear that any type of misbehavior and misconduct under the garb of politicians also will not be tolerated.
