Centre initiated steps to improve farming: Amit Shah

BJP national President Amit Shah said that Central Government has initiated several steps to improve farming in the country.

He was addressing organic farmers in Mandya today as part of his election campaign in Karnataka.

Appreciating the efforts of farmers following organic cultivation, Mr Shah said, use of chemical-based fertilisers has ruined the fertility of the soil. He assured them to set up exclusive agriculture markets for organic produce if Yeddyurappa comes to power.

Earlier in the day, Mr Shah visited the home of Rajendrappa and paid condolences. Rajendrappa was one of those farmers who committed suicide due to farming distress.

In a press conference in Bengaluru today, State Home Minister Ramalingareddy accused BJP of false propaganda about the killing of Hindu activists in Karnataka.

He asked as to why Mr Shah has not spoken about Sangh Parivar activists allegedly killing several members of PFI and SDPI in the state.
