PM Modi emphasises need to use technology in celebrations of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasised the need to use technology in the celebrations of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi so that the whole world can take note and participate. Mr Modi said this at the first meeting of a national committee set up to plan events to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
President Ram Nath Kovind yesterday chaired the meeting in New Delhi. Prime Minister called for the celebrations to move beyond government events and take the shape of a mass movement or Jan Bhagidaari. Mr Modi also urged all state governments to have similar consultations and draw plans at the state level.
The Prime Minister stressed that all programmes associated with this celebration should be designed around the theme of Karyanjali or Gandhi in action. He expressed happiness that the suggestions received during the meeting were mostly action-oriented. Mr Modi said, Mahatma Gandhi and his teachings are timeless.
He said that Mahatma Gandhi can become a mechanism for people around the world to understand India. Prime Minister felt that solutions to several contemporary problems could be found by following the path shown by Mahatma Gandhi.
