US Prez says 'will know next week' if North Korea Summit to go ahead

US President Donald Trump has said it would be clear "next week" whether his scheduled June 12 summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Singapore would take place.

He told reporters at the White House that if he attends the summit, it will be a great thing for North Korea.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had told lawmakers that the June 12 Summit was going to happen. His remarks came days after North Korea threatened to pull out of the summit protesting against the US-South Korea military exercise.

Even as the suspense remains, the White House has said it is going ahead with the preparations for the first-ever summit between the two leaders.
