No need to panic regarding Nipah Virus outbreak in Kerala as centre is closely monitoring situation: JP Nadda

Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda today said there is no need to panic regarding Nipah Virus outbreak in Kerala as centre is closely monitoring the situation. Talking to reporters in Chhattisgarh capital Raipur, the union minister said a multi-disciplinary central team led by National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) director and experts from NCDC, AIIMS, Safdarjung hospital, EMT division National Institute of Virology Pune are supporting the state health authorities in managing the outbreak.


Nadda said it is expected that the incubation period of Nipah Virus will remain till June and all efforts are in place to contain its spread to other areas. He said contact tracing and treatment and clinical management protocol has been provided and is being followed.
