In Afghanistan, at least 28 persons including 10 soldiers were killed and 39 injured in three separate attacks by Taliban and Islamic State.

In the first attack by the Taliban, in northern Kunduz province, 10 Afghan soldiers were killed and five others were wounded. A provincial council member, Sayyed Asadullah Sadat said the clashes started early morning after Taliban launched coordinated attacks on security checkpoints in Aaq Tipa locality of Qala-e-Zal district, the provincial capital of Kunduz. He said several Taliban fighters were also killed or wounded during the gun battle, but their number could not be exactly specified.

In another attack in eastern Ghazni province, six people were killed and three wounded when a roadside bomb planted by Taliban struck a bus. The provincial governor's spokesman Arif Noori said women and children were also among the dead.

In the third attack of the day a suicide attacker blew himself up outside a government ministry in Kabul killing at least 12 people and injuring 31. Health Ministry spokesman Waheed Majroh said, employees of the ministry were leaving their offices for Ramadan when the suicide bomber struck.

Islamic State claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing. The group's AMAQ news agency said the group did not provide evidence for its claim.
