PM Modi Says Development is Only Answer to Violence

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said, development is the only answer to violence. Addressing a public meeting at Bhilai in Chhattisgarh today, he said, during the last four years, a large number of misguided youth have returned to the mainstream of the society because of the development initiatives taken by the Centre.   

Our correspondent says, Mr. Modi's comments assume significance as Chhattisgarh has been witnessing large-scale extremist violence for several years.
The Prime Minister said, during the last four years his government has made efforts to build confidence among the masses by taking up development initiatives.

Mr.Modi said, Bastar area, which was once known for violence, has now come on the country’s aviation map with air services connecting Bastar with other parts of the country. 

Earlier,  Prime Minister launched air services from Raipur to Jagdalpur in Bastar region through a video link from Bihali.  He said Chhattisgarh’s new state capital Naya Raipur is becoming a model for other smart cities in the country.  
Prime Minister said, the Centre has launched schemes to improve the living standard of tribal people and increase their income by launching a Van Dhan Yojana to ensure that their forest produce fetch fair prices through value addition and better marketing network. 

He said, 22,000 village haats are proposed to be developed linking them with bigger markets through modern technology. He said 5000 such haats would start functioning this year itself.
