Iran, Austria agree to maintain 2015 nuclear deal

Iran and Austria have agreed to maintain the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, despite the United States withdrawing from the agreement. At a news conference after their meeting in capital Vienna, Iranian President  Rouhani and Austria's Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said both the countries have agreed that the nuclear deal has produced benefits to all countries. During their meeting, the leaders discussed how to deal with the nuclear agreement after the US decided to pull out and reinstate economic sanctions against Tehran.

Rouhani who is on a European tour said the nuclear agreement must be preserved. Expressing   EU's support for the deal, Kurz  said EU nations will soon put together measures to counter the US economic sanctions. Austria holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.  Foreign ministers from the five  signatories to the nuclear deal, excluding the United States, will meet in Vienna on Friday.
