Rain subsides in most parts of Mumbai and its suburbs

Rain has subsided in most parts of Mumbai and its suburbs. The local train services, that were badly affected on a section of the Western Railway yesterday due to inundation of tracks, has resumed functioning. As of now, Western Railway is running its services on some routes with restricted speed as the tracks are still flooded. Services between Virar and Dahanu Road have also commenced but the regular services will be started only after the water recedes to a safe level on all lines.

The road traffic is moving smoothly after four days of heavy rain. The MeT department said, the city had received 864.5 mm rain in just 10 days, which is nearly equal to what it gets in an entire month.

Since the onset of Monsoon, Mumbai has so far received almost 60 per cent of its required annual rainfall. The department said, heavy to very heavy rain is likely to continue in the city and its neighboring areas till Saturday.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Suburban Guardian Minister Vinod Tawde is scheduled to hold some important meetings in Mumbai with senior officials of the city civic body and police, and discuss the arrangements being made to tackle the monsoon menace.
