Monsoon Session of Parliament begins

The Monsoon Session of Parliament began today. In the Lok Sabha, four members, who were elected to the House in the recently held by-polls, took oath

They are: Madhukarrao Kukade from Bhandara Gondiya and Rajendra Gavit from Palghar in Maharashtra, Thokeho from Nagaland and Tabassum Begum from Kairana. The House also paid tributes to its former members Bahadur Singh, Sanat Kumar Mandal and Kandala Subramanyam.
In the Rajya Sabha, three newly elected members from Kerala and four Nominated Members including Dr Sonal Mansingh and Ram Shakal took oath. Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu also made an obituary reference to eight of the former members including Ashok Mitra and MM Jacob. 

Later, the House was adjourned till noon after protests by TDP MPs over demand of special status to Andhra Pradesh.
