Trump urges EU to lower auto tariffs

US President Donald Trump has suggested that the United States and the European Union drop all their tariffs on each other's goods.

Mr Trump made the suggestion in a tweet ahead of his meeting with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker scheduled to held in Washington today. Mr Trump said, both US and the EU drop all Tariffs, barriers, and Subsidies, that would finally be called Free Market and Fair Trade.

US administration is considering raising tariffs on imported cars and auto parts as part of efforts to reduce US trade deficits. It said the EU's 10 percent levy on cars is unfairly high compared to the US's 2.5 percent.

The EU said it is prepared to respond if the US goes ahead with the extra auto levies, but does not want to worsen relations with the world's biggest importer of European cars.
