PM Modi urges industrialists to invest heavily in agriculture sector to improve lot of farmers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched 81 investment projects worth over sixty thousand crore rupees at a mega ground breaking event in Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow. A large number of leading industrialists of the country participated in the event. Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister urged the industrialists to invest heavily in agriculture sector to improve the lot of farmers.

He said, corporate houses can invest much more in building warehouses, cold storages and also in packaging sector to give a boost to agriculture. Mr. Modi said, by March next year all households will have electricity connection and once that happens agriculture sector and rural life will get a face lift.

The Prime Minister said these projects for which ground breaking ceremony was held today will boost Digital India and Make in India initiatives. He lauded Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh and said that these projects have been materalised only within five months.

The Uttar Pradesh government organised Investors Summit in February this year in Lucknow. Mr. Modi said, it is a record industrial investment and never before the state received such huge investment under any previous regime.

Attacking the opposition for calling industrialists thieves, the Prime Minister said, like farmers, bankers, government employees and labourers, industrialists also contributed to the development of the country. He said, he is not scared of standing next to businessmen as his intentions are clear.

Mr Modi said, one can not have blot simply by standing with any one if his intentions are clear. The Prime Minister said, Mahatma Gandhi's intentions were clear and that is why he never hesitated to stay in Birla House.

The Prime Minister said, those who look for issues to criticize him, should note that those who ruled the country for seventy years are responsible for the ills of the country. He also took a dig at the opposition for critising him for visiting the state quite often.

Mr. Modi said, he is an MP from the state and therefore, he should visit it as many times as possible for him. This was his sixth visit to Uttar Pradesh in this month.
