Lok Sabha passes Homeopathy Central Council (Amendment) Bill

The Lok Sabha today passed the Homeopathy Central Council (Amendment) Bill 2018 which replaces the ordinance which was promulgated on 18th of May this year by the President of India.

The Bill amends the Homeopathy Central Council Act, 1973 which sets up the Central Council of Homeopathy, CCH. The Central Council regulates homeopathic education and practice.

Replying to a debate on the Bill, Minister for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik said, the members of the board of governor will replace the existing functionaries of the CCH and it will be comprised of seven persons of eminence in the field of homeopathy education and eminent administrators.

He said, the tenure of the board will be for one year. The Minister said, the Government brought the Ordinance to avoid further delay of appointment of members as elections were delayed due to administrative reasons.
