Amarnath Yatra temporarily suspended due to shutdown call by separatists

In Jammu and Kashmir, authorities have suspended the ongoing Amarnath Yatra from Jammu Base camp to the Amarnath cave in the Kashmir Valley for today and tomorrow due to a shutdown by separatists. 

However, the pilgrims already camped at Baltal and Pahalgam base camps in the Valley proceeded as per routine to perform the Yatra. 

Joint Police Control Room officials at Baltal and Pahalgam told AIR that about 350 Yatris from Pahalgam camp and around 600 from Baltal base camp were allowed to proceed towards the holy cave. In addition, around 600 Yatris are transported up and down through helicopter sorties from Baltal base camp.
