Allahabad HC decides to monitor probe into Deoria Shelter home sexual exploitation case

Allahabad HC
The Allahabad High Court has decided to monitor the investigation into the alleged sexual exploitation of girls in a shelter home at Deoria, Uttar Pradesh.

A bench, headed by Chief Justice DB Bhosale, passed the order yesterday while taking suo motu cognizance of media reports on the suspected sexual abuse of inmates at the Ma Vindhyavasini shelter by an NGO in the state.

The court said it appeared that the owners of the shelter home enjoyed the patronage of some politician. The court posted the matter for further hearing on the 13th of this month.
The state government had recommended a CBI probe into the incident on Tuesday. It had also announced setting up of a Special Investigation Team to probe the case.
