Lok Sabha MPs can now speak in 22 languages in House

The Lok Sabha members can now speak in five more languages.  The Lok Sabha Secretariat has provided the facility for the interpretation of languages including Dogri, Konkani, Santhali and Sindhi. 

Speaker Sumitra Mahajan announced this in the House today saying earlier, interpretation facility was available in 17 languages only. She said members can speak in 22 languages now. 

The Speaker said the members will have to give 24-hour prior notice to speak in these five new languages. Earlier, Rajya Sabha  Secretariat had also arranged for simultaneous interpretation facility for  Dogri, Kashmiri, Konkani, Santhali and Sindhi.
