Rajya Sabha defers discussion on Triple Talaq Bill

AIR The Rajya Sabha has decided to defer the discussion on The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill 2017 today.

As soon as the House met post lunch, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu announced that the discussion on the Triple Talaq Bill will not take place because of differences among political parties.

       
The Bill aims to protect rights of married Muslim Women and prohibit instant Triple Talaq.

Earlier, Trinamool Congress members staged a walk out protesting against the Chairman decision to take up the legislative business late in the evening after completion of private members’ resolutions.
