PM says it is his dream to see every Indian family owning a house by 2022; hands over 1.15 lakh houses to beneficiaries in Gujarat under PMGAY

File Pic Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over more than 1 lakh 15 thousand houses built under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awaas Yojana schemes to the beneficiaries through video conferencing from Jujwa village of Valsad district in Gujarat. Beneficiaries from 26 districts of Gujarat got their homes through collective e-Gruhpravesh today.

The Prime Minister also interacted with the women beneficiaries and congratulated them on getting their dream homes. Speaking on this occasion, he said that wonderful homes under Prime Minister's Awas Yojana have been made possible because there are no middle men.

The Prime Minister said, it is his dream and endeavour to ensure that every Indian has his own house by 2022.
 Delivering the Convocation Address of the Gujarat Forensic Sciences University at Gandhinagar this evening, Mr Modi said, it is a matter of pride that in a short time, this University has achieved such a bench-mark of academic excellence that the National Assessment and Accreditation Council has awarded it an ‘A’ Grade. He called upon forensic experts to help the judicial system by using DNA profiling as much as possible so that culprits get punished immediately and the victims get justice.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need to develop newer techniques to deal with rapidly changing crime scenario. He said that recognizing the importance of DNA technology in forensic investigation, his government has approved the DNA Technology (Use and Application) Regulation Bill 2018. Mr Modi said, through this bill, they will ensure that all DNA tests remain reliable and the data is safe.

Mr Modi also asked the forensic experts to use their skills not only to keep pace with the changes around us, but also to drive progressive changes that make our world a better place.

 The Prime Minister also attended a meeting of the Somnath Trust in Gandhinagar, before returning to Delhi.
