PM Modi condoles demise of Jain religious leader Tarun Maharaj

Jain religious leader Tarun Sagar passed away after prolonged illness in Delhi this morning. The 51-year-old Jain muni was suffering from jaundice but had stopped taking medicines for the past few days.

Born as Pawan Kumar Jain in Madhya Pradesh’s Damoh district in 1967, the Digambar Jain monk had a massive following in the Jain community. He was most popular for his lecture series called "Kadve Pravachan".

President and Prime Minister have condoled the death of the Jain monk. President Ram Nath Kovind said in his message, pained to hear of the death of Jain Muni Tarun Sagar. Mr Kovind expressed deepest condolences to Jain muni's followers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he is deeply pained by the untimely demise of Muni Tarun Sagar Ji Maharaj. Noting his contribution to the society, Mr. Modi said the Jain monk's noble teachings will continue to inspire people. 

He also said that he will always be remembered for his rich ideas, compassion and contribution to society. 

Mr Modi said his thoughts are with the Jain community and his countless disciples. Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu have also condoled the death of the Jain monk.

Tarun Maharaj’s last rites will be performed at Tarunsagaram, Muradnagar in Uttar Pradesh later today.
