In Mizoram, in a major blow to the ruling Congress Party, Home Minister R. Lalzirliana has tendered his resignation today to Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla.

Mr. Lalzirliana is also the Vice President of Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC).

His resignation came after Disciplinary Committee of MPCC issued him show cause notice and sought explanation after he said that different political parties had made offer to him for the upcoming assembly election.

However, R.Lalzirliana said that his resignation is mainly due to the Congress led Government's failure to implement Saitual, the area of his constituency, into a full fledged District as promised by the Chief Minister himself from the time the Congress came back to power again way back in 1998.

Saitual is one of the constituent town of Tawi, where R.Lalzirliana is serving his fourth term as an MLA.

In his resignation letter addressed to Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla, the veteran Congress MLA R.Lalzirliana wrote that his constituent people have been seeking for implementation of Saitual into a full fledged district but the Congress led government has failed to fulfill its promises during its ten year rule.

He said that he could no longer continue to hold the post of a cabinet minister while the government could not fulfill the aspiration of its people.
