Sensex ends 280 pts down; Nifty below 11,150

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange witnessed a lot of volatility today and the BSE closed 280 points below at 36,842 mark. 

Earlier in the morning trade, Sensex rose 368 points to ouch the day's high of 37,489. But it turned weak in the afternoon trade and crashed 1128 points to hit the day's low of 35,994. 

The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange also slid 91 points to close at 11,143.
