A major part of the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan remained closed for the second consecutive day yesterday following clashes between the security forces of the two countries.

This has left hundreds of people and vehicles stranded on both sides.

A spokesman for the Police Chief in Afghanistan's Kandahar Province said, the clashes erupted when troops opened fire on Pakistani soldiers who were trying to erect a fence along the disputed border between the two neighbours.
