India lodges strong protest with Pakistan over casualties of Indian soldiers

India has lodged a strong protest with Pakistan over the casualties of Indian soldiers during an attempted cross-border infiltration by Pakistani terrorists on Sunday.

The incident occured in the Sunderbani Sector in Jammu and Kashmir.

Ministry of External Affairs summoned a senior official in the High Commission for Pakistan in New Delhi and it served a  demarche protesting over the incident.

In a statement, the  External Affairs Ministry condemned the provocative action of Pakistan revealing its complicity in aiding and abetting terrorism. The incident exposes Pakistan’s deceitful claims to promote constructive engagement and desire for peace.

The Ministry said,  Pakistan was informed that two of its armed intruders were killed by the Indian security forces during the firefight and was told to take custody of the dead bodies of its nationals.

The Ministry said, India's grave concern at the continuing incidents of unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Pakistan forces along the Line of Control(LoC)  and the International Border (IB) was also shared.

Despite repeated calls for restraint and adherence to the ceasefire understanding of 2003 for maintaining peace and tranquillity, The Ministry said, Pakistan forces have carried out 1591 incidents of unprovoked ceasefire violations along the LoC and IB  so far this year.

It said, Pakistan was asked to abide by its bilateral commitment not to allow any territory under its control to be used to support terrorism against India in any manner.
