Prime Minister Narendra Modi met First Lady of South Korea, Kim Jung-sook in New Delhi on Monday evening.

In their meeting, Prime Minister Modi and First Lady Kim discussed the deep civilizational and spiritual links between India and South Korea. They also exchanged views on promoting people-to-people exchanges.

First Lady Kim congratulated the Prime Minister on being awarded the Seoul Peace Prize.

First Lady Kim is visiting India at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi. She will be the Chief Guest at the Deepotsav event being organized by Uttar Pradesh government and the ground-breaking ceremony of the new Memorial of Queen Suriratna in Ayodhya tomorrow.

Ayodhya and South Korea have a deep historical connection through the legendary Princess Suriratna of Ayodhya, who travelled to South Korea in 48 CE and married Korean King Suro.

Earlier in the day, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj called on the First Lady of South Korea, Mrs Kim Jung-sook in New Delhi.

In a tweet, Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, India and South Korea share a special strategic partnership since 2015. He said relations have deepened and diversified in recent years between the sides.

Mrs Kim Jung-sook arrived yesterday in New Delhi to participate in the Deepotsava and groundbreaking ceremony of Queen Hur Memorial Park Project, Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh.
