Talking to our AIR correspondent, newly appointed Foreign Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama said negotiations are going on with Parliament speaker to decide on the business of the house on Wednesday.

He said that normally, the committee of party leaders decides upon the business of the House 24 hours before the session begins.

His comments came as speaker Karu Jaysurya and group led by ousted Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe have demanded that parliament take on the vote to decide upon majority on the first day itself.

Both sides led by Mr. Wickremsinghe and new Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa have claimed majority in the house.

Meanwhile, another minister was sworn in to the cabinet of Mr. Rajapaksa while the police department has been put under the purview of Defence Ministry, which comes under President Maithripala Sirisena.

The new foreign minister sought to downplay any security issues in the country saying there is no incident of violence since the political crisis erupted two weeks ago.
