Polling for 2nd phase of Panchayat elections concludes peacefully in J&K

Polling for the second phase of Panchayat elections in Jammu and Kashmir concluded peacefully on Tuesday.

The elections are being held in nine phases across the state. 

Voting was held in seven districts of Jammu division, six districts of the Kashmir Valley and two in Ladakh. 

Chief Electoral Officer Shaleen Kabra said, overall 71.1 per cent polling was witnessed across the State in this phase. 

Meanwhile, counting is in progress and the results are expected by late night or tomorrow morning.

4,014 candidates are in the fray for 281 Sarpanch and 1286 Panch seats in this phase. Voting for the third phase will take place on 24th of this month.
