Withdrawal of nominations for Assembly elections in Rajasthan, Telangana ends; Poll campaign picks up in MP & Mizoram

Withdrawal of nominations for assembly elections in Rajasthan and Telangana has ended. In Rajasthan, after the withdrawal of nominations,  2 thousand 2 hundred 94 candidates are left in the poll fray. As per information of the election department, 3 thousand 293 candidates had filed nominations. 

In Telangana, total 1821 candidates are left in the contest for Assembly elections after withdrawal of nominations. A total of 367 persons including a large number of Congress rebels withdrew their nominations.

Meanwhile, a high-level team from the Election Commission of India led by Chief Election Commissioner O P Rawat is in Hyderabad on a two-day visit to review poll arrangements in Telangana. Our correspondent has more details:

In Madhya Pradesh, leaders of political parties are touring various areas, garnering support for their candidates. Our correspondent reports that BJP President Amit Shah and Congress President Rahul Gandhi will lead the campaign from today. 

In Mizoram, Campaigning by major parties has intensified across the state. Ruling Congress and opposition parties MNF, ZPM have stepped up campaigning in the state.
