In Turkey, an application for arrest warrants for Saudi Arabia's ex-deputy intelligence head and a former aide of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has been filed over the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

The Istanbul Chief Prosecutor's office filed the application against General Ahmed Asiri and Saud al-Qahtani in a penal court.

Local media quoted an official statement said that there is strong suspicion that Asiri and Qahtani were among planners of Jamal Khashoggi's killing.

Reuters news agency quoted a senior Turkish official that the move reflects the view that Saudi authorities will not take formal action against the two Saudi nationals.
