US Congress passes bill to avoid government shutdown

The US Senate and House of Representatives have passed legislation today that would allow to continue funding the government for the next two weeks in order to avert a shutdown.

The House passed by unanimous consent the bill that extends funding through December 21, while the Senate adopted the measure by voice vote.The bill now heads to US President Donald Trump's desk for signature. The current spending for fiscal year 2019 is set to expire tomorrow.

Meanwhile,Trump is expected to meet with House Minority Leader Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Schumer next week to discuss government funding issues.
