Election Commissioner of India Ashok Lavasa holds meetings with Goa state officials

Election commissioner of India Ashok Lavasa held meetings with Goa state government officials in Panaji and reviewed preparedness for the Lok Sabha elections in the state.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting today, Mr Lavasa said, he reviewed the preparedness for Lok Sabha elections and took stock of the progress of preparations of electoral rolls.

He also reviewed the availability of electronic voting machines, VVPAT or voter verifiable paper audit trail and voter awareness programmes undertaken.

Mr Lavasa also launched books on accessible elections and booth-level officer-level management plan; and CDs on promoting best electoral practices, especially ethical voting, under the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation programme.

The meetings were attended by chief electoral officer, district collectors and senior police officials.
