Brexit agreement remains best deal possible: EU Council President

European Council President Donald Tusk today reiterated that EU will make no new offer on Brexit, and wondered how Britain’s exit was promoted without any understanding of how to deliver it.

Speaking at a joint news conference with Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, Tusk said he wished the United Kingdom would reverse Brexit.

He, however, added that he no longer believes there is a way to stop Britain leaving due to the pro-Brexit stance of both the UK Prime Minister and the leader of the opposition.

Reacting to Tusk's comments, Downing Street said that in what was the largest democratic exercise in Britain's history, people voted to leave the EU and that everyone should now focus on delivering that.

Commons leader Andrea Leadsom said that Tusk should apologise for his disgraceful and spiteful comments.

Britain is set to leave the EU on March 29. It might have to leave the bloc without a deal unless May convinces the EU leaders to reopen the divorce deal for renegotiation.
