Dream of manufacturing Light transport aircraft (SARAS Mark II) in India to be reality in 4 years: NAL Director

The dream of manufacturing Light transport aircraft within the country will be a reality in four years. The National Aerospace Laboratories Director Jitendra Jadhav informed media persons in Bengaluru today that SARAS Mark II multi-role transport aircraft being developed by them will be supplied to the Indian Air Force for troop transfer. 

Speaking to Akashvani later at NAL stall in the Aero India show, the Director said that the Indian Air Force has placed an order for 15 aircraft initially.

Another highlight of Aero India show today was that Army Chief, General Bipin Rawat flew the Light Combat Helicopter, LCH. Terming the sortie in LCH as an experience of a lifetime, the General said that the helicopter designed and developed by HAL is suitable for the Army. 

The Deputy Chief of Air Force, Air Marshal V R Chaudhary flew the French fighter aircraft Rafale today. In another programme, a well-known figure in the sports field, Ashwini Nachappa gave away awards to the winners of Drone Olympics today.
