Four killed, 45 others injured as bus falls into gorge

In Maharashtra, four passengers were killed and 45 others injured yesterday when their bus fell into a gorge in Palghar district.

An official said, the incident occurred during wee hours yesterday in Torangane ghat between Mokhada and Trimbakeshwar villages.

The official stated that the private bus had started from Nashik in north Maharashtra and was headed towards Palghar. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital. The condition of some of them is serious.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the loss of lives in the accident. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, his thoughts are with the bereaved families and prayers with those injured. Maharashtra government will provide all possible assistance to those affected, he said.
