CBI registers bribery case against two GST superintendents

CBI has arrested two Superintendents posted at the GST office Pune in Maharashtra for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from the complainant. 

A case has been registered against them on the basis of a complaint. 

It was alleged in the complaint that both the accused demanded a bribe of three lakh rupees from the complainant for settling the Service Tax liability. 

The Agency laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of one lakh rupees as the first instalment of the total bribe.

The Agency also conducted searches at the office and residential premises of both the accused at Pune. 

During the searches, documents regarding the acquisition of movable and immovable properties and other incriminating documents were recovered.
