Bihar Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi files defamation case against Rahul Gandhi

Senior BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi has filed a defamation case against Congress President Rahul Gandhi for his reported statement that all thieves have Modi in their surnames.

Sushil Modi has filed the case in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Patna under section 500 of the IPC.

Mr Modi said he is hurt by Rahul Gandhi's remarks as his reputation in the eyes of the public has been damaged. Hence, Congress President is liable to be prosecuted and punished for the offence.

The court is likely to hear the case on April 22.
