Satellites launched by ISRO proved to be essential to national security: K Sivan

ISRO Chairman Dr K Sivan has asserted that the satellites launched by ISRO have proved to be essential to national security and has contributed significantly to the development activities in various diverse fields from agriculture to weather forecasting.

Inaugurating South India’s first Space Technology Incubation Centre in Trichy through video conferencing today, Dr Sivan also pointed out that validated and approved projects incubated in the centre will be inducted into various ISRO projects, including space missions.

He said that the centre will also incubate products that can be commercially utilized by the industry.

This is the third incubation centre being opened in the country. The other two are in Agartala and Jullundhar. Three more centres will be opened in Rourkela, Nagpur and Indore. An MoU between ISRO and NIT, Trichy was also signed during the function.
