In Bihar, there is no improvement in the flood. Flood situation in Darbhanga, Sitamarhi and Muzaffarpur continues to be grim.

Over one dozen villages under Sugauli block of East Champaran have been inundated following a breach of ring bundh. Over 88 lakh people spread over 13 districts are reeling under the impact of the flood.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi on Monday and reviewed the situation arising due to floods in various parts of the state.

In a tweet, Mr Modi said, the Centre has been working with the State Government to help those affected and it will continue providing all possible assistance needed.

Bihar has been reeling under floods since early this month following torrential rainfall in Terai region of Nepal.

Kosi, Bagmati, Ganga, Burhi Gandak and Adhwara rivers are flowing above the danger mark. Eleven trains have been cancelled due to floods.

Railways have intensified patrolling along railway tracks in view of rising water level. About nine hundred jawans of NDRF and SDRF have been pressed into service for relief and rescue operations.

So far 127 people have died due to flood-related incidents. Meanwhile, the state government has so far transferred more than 502 crores rupees in the bank account of eight lakh 36 thousand flood-affected people.
