Follow selfless, truthful and patriotic leaders, says VP to politicians

Vice President Mr. M Venkaiah Naidu has advised all the present days politicians to follow the footprints of such leaders who were selfless, truthful and patriotic.

Mr Naidu was presenting first memorial lecture on Late Balram Ji Das Tandon in Punjab University at Chandigarh. He asked public to take a lesson from life of leaders like Balram Ji Das Tandon and participate in the development and well being of the nation as done by them to serve and make the country proud.

Mr Naidu also spoke about various issues of the country and various welfare schemes launched by the Modi government. He said that Kashmir is a part of India and abolition of Article 370 is a welcome step. Showing cuttings of some newspapers published in 1963-1964 about Article 370 and treatment meted out to the Kashmiri people, Mr Naidu said they also demanded abolition of section 370 for development. Mr Naidu who started his speech in Punjabi language, also mentioned the name of first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru and other leaders of that time and said now all should work for the country irrespective of the caste, creed, religion, region and language.

The Vice President also unveiled  a book in Punjabi on life of Balramji Das Tandon on this occasion. He was welcomed by Punjab Governor V P Singh Badnore and Sanjay Tandon son of Balram Ji Das Tandon.Union Minister Som Nath, Punjab Cabinet Minister Vijay Inder Singla,Former Union Minister Vijay Sampla and other leaders of BJP also graced the occasion.
