EC announces schedule for by-poll to two Rajya Sabha seats in UP

The Election Commission of India today declared the schedule for by-poll to two seats of Rajya Sabha in Uttar Pradesh. 

Election Commission release said that the notifications for both the seats of would be issued on 5th of September and 12 of September will be the last date for filing nomination papers. The scrutiny of papers would be done on 13th while the last date for withdrawal of nominations will be 16th of September.

The polling, if required, would be held between 0900 hrs to 1600 hrs on 23rd of September and the results would be declared the same day. 

These seats fell vacant due to the resignation of Samajwadi Party members Surendra Singh Nagar and Sanjay Seth, who later joined the BJP. The term of both the seats is up to 4th of July 2022.
