Budget session of Punjab Assembly begins today

The budget session of Punjab Assembly began today with Governor's address. Addressing the house, Punjab Governor V P Singh Badnore said that  the Government has strived hard to uphold the rule of law and maintain peace in the state in last one year. He said that the government has consistently built on the progress and intensified it's efforts to put the state back on the path of high trajectory growth.

In view of fast  depleting  ground water level, the  government has entered into an MOU with Memory, the national water agency of Israel for comprehensive planning for water management in Punjab.  He said that government has made every possible effort to revive State's economy. It has reduced resource gap to  4175 crore rupees in 2017-18 and increased the revenue receipts by 23 percent in December 2018.

Governor said that the state has successfully implemented Swachch Bharat Mission and achieved Open Defecation Free ODF status for all villages of the state with the construction of 4.99 lakh toilets at a cost of  722 crore rupees in last two years.

The MLAs of Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP led by former Punjab Finance Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa and Bains brothers of Lok Insaaf Party raised slogans and entered into the well when the Governor was reading his address. Later, they walked out boycotting the address.
