Fire breaks out at MTNL building in Mumbai, 84 people rescued

DD News

A total of 84 people were safely rescued from the Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) building located at S V Road in Bandra, where a major fire broke out today.

Most of them were trapped on the terrace of the nine-storeyed building.

Fourteen fire engines and other equipment, including a robot van, an aerial ladder and an ambulance, were engaged in fire fighting operations.

While the rescue operation is now over, efforts to douse the fire completely is still on.

One firefighter, who was exposed to the smoke billowing out of the building, has been shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The cause of the fire is still to be known.
