Screen Grab
BJP President and Union Home Minister Amit Shah today said that Opposition parties are confusing people over Citizenship Amendment Act.

Targeting Congress at an election rally in Giridih, Mr. Shah said, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and his party leaders are provoking people for violence in North-Eastern states over the provisions of the act. He said, BJP is not anti-Muslim and the Centre is committed to protecting the rights and interests of the community.

Mr Shah said, Opposition parties are trying to take political mileage by raising the issue of the Citizenship Amendment Act. Mr. Shah emphasized that Indian Muslims are citizens of the country and will remain so. Citizenship Act is not meant to snatch anyone’s Indian citizenship.

Muslims have no need to fear or worry. Mr. Shah also reiterated that Muslim women are happy after the abolishment of Triple Talaq provisions.

Defence Minister Mr. Rajnath Singh said that the non-Muslim minorities were humiliated in three neighbouring countries of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh and the Centre has given rights and honour to migrated people from these countries by enacting the Citizen Amendment Act.

Addressing election rally in Pakur, Mr. Singh said, the Centre is not discriminating against Muslims and a large number of people from this community were given Citizenship by the Narendra Modi Government.
