THE HEADLINES:-

All arrangements are in place to ensure free, fare and peaceful polling in 72 constituencies of Chhattisgarh which are going to poll in the second and last phase of assembly elections tomorrow. These constituencies are spread across 19 districts of the state. More from our correspondent-
"In second and last phase, as many as one thousand seventy nine candidates, including one hundred and nineteen women candidates, are in the fray. More than one crore fifty three lakh voters, including about seventy six lakh females, are eligible to exercise their franchise. Chief Electoral Officer Subrat Sahoo said that elaborate security arrangements are in place to ensure peaceful polling.


About nineteen thousand three hundred polling stations have been set up for the second phase of elections in these 72 constituencies. Vikalp Shukla, AIR News, Raipur."

In Telangana, all major political parties have almost completed ticket distribution. The Congress released its final list of 6 candidates and the BJP, its sixth list of candidates. The TRS also announced its party candidates in the remaining two seats. Meanwhile, electioneering is picking up with top leaders of all parties set to address various road-shows and public meetings.
In Madhya Pradesh, electioneering is at its peak for polling, which will take place is a single phase on the 28th of this month. Chief Election Commissioner O P Rawat is arriving in Bhopal on a day-long visit today. More from our correspondent:-

"Chief Election Commissioner O P Rawat will first address the officers of the 93rd foundation course at Academy of Administration in Bhopal. Later, he will hold an election meeting with the Chief Electoral Officer of the state. Along with this, Shri Rawat will also attend a programme organized by Rajiv Gandhi Technology University, Bhopal. Meanwhile, leaders of various political parties are leaving no stone unturned to win voters. Many senior BJP leaders including party President Amit Shah will lead the party campaign in various places. Samajwadi Chief Akhilesh Yadav, Congress leader Kamal Nath, Jyotiradiyta Sindhiya and Digvijay Singh will also address rallies. Sanjeev Sharma, AIR News, Bhopal."
Filing of nominations for the Rajasthan and Telangana Assembly Elections ends this evening. Scrutiny will be taken up tomorrow and the last date for withdrawal is Thursday. Single phase polling for 200 assembly seats of Rajasthan and 119  for Telangana will take place on the 7th of next month. Counting will be held on 11 December along with Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Kundli-Manesar section of the Western Peripheral Expressway today. He will also address a public gathering at Sultanpur village in Gurugram. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the 3.2 kilometre long Escorts Mujesar-Ballabhgarh corridor of the Delhi Metro. A report:-
"The Western Peripheral Expressway also known as KMP expressway is expected to divert more than 50 thousand heavy vehicles away from Delhi. The 136 kilometre long six-lane expressway which has been built at a cost of over 6 thousand 400 crore rupees will not only ease burden of heavy traffic using Delhi as transit point but also provide high-speed link between northern and southern districts of Haryana. Commuting will be easier for over 2 lakh people after opening of the Escorts Mujesar-Ballabhgarh corridor of the Delhi Metro. After Faridabad, Bahadurgarh and Gurugram, Ballabhgarh will be the fourth city in Haryana to be connected by metro, taking the total length of the Metro to 29 kilometres in the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also lay foundation of country's first Sri Vishwakarma Skill Development University in Palwal. ANUPAM MISHRA, AIR NEWS, DELHI."

Qaumi Ekta Week will be observed across the country from today to foster and reinforce the spirit of communal harmony and national integration. Observation of the Qaumi Ekta week will help highlight the inherent strength and resilience of the nation to withstand actual and potential threats to the eclectic and secular fabric of the country.
As part of the week long programmes, today will be observed as National Integration Day. The last day of the Week will be observed as Conservation Day.
The National Foundation for Communal Harmony, an autonomous organisation with the Ministry of Home Affairs, organises the Communal Harmony Campaign coinciding with the Qaumi Ekta Week and observes the Communal Harmony Flag Day on the 25th of November.

President Ram Nath kovind will visit Myson temple in Da Nang in Vietnam today. Considered as one of the centres of hindu worship in south east Asia, Myson, is the only heritage of its kind in Vietnam. From Da Nang, Mr Kovind will go to Vietnam capital Hanoi today, where he will address a delegation of the Vietnam-India business forum. More from our correspondent:-
"The Vietnam government has listed Myson as one of the special national heritage Site. As part of his program President will address the Indian community and Vietnam-India Business Forum in Hanoi later today. Vietnam has emerged as a key economy in the region due to a sustained GDP growth rate of 7 percent per annum for almost two decades. Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will hold a two-day dialogue with her Singaporean counterpart, Dr. NG Eng Hen in Vishakhapatnam begining today. The dialogue is being held under the aegis of the Defence Cooperation Agreement between the two countries. Singapore's defence minister is arriving at Port Blair today ahead of the dialogue. The Singapore Defence Minister's visit coincides with the 25th edition of the ongoing Singapore India Maritime Bilateral Exercise, SIMBEX-18.

US President Donald Trump has defended his administration's decision to stop hundreds of millions of dollars of military aid to Pakistan. He said, Islamabad helped Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden hide near its garrison city. In an interview to Fox News, the US President said, a daring helicopter raid by the US killed Laden in 2011. He further said that Washington ended the 1.3 billion US dollars military aid to Pakistan because Islamabad did not do enough against terror groups active on its soil.
Ties between the two countries became strained after Trump announced his Afghanistan and South Asia policy in August last year, hitting out at Pakistan for providing safe havens to terrorists.

In Sri Lanka, parliament will again meet today even as the all party conference called by President Maithripala Sirisena last evening could not reach a consensus on resolving the impasse. The session today will be preceded by a party leaders meeting to discuss how to carry out the house proceedings.
The Sri Lankan parliament has been disrupted since Wednesday on the issue of no confidence motion against the new government led by Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) are the two social security schemes launched by the Prime Minister in May 2015. PMJJBY offers a renewable one year term life cover of two lakh rupees to all subscribing bank account holders in the age group of 18 to 50 years, covering death due to any reason, for a premium of 3 hundred 30 rupees per annum per subscriber. Similarly, PMSBY offers a renewable one year accidental death cum disability cover to all subscribing bank account holders in the age group of 18 to 70 for a premium of 12 rupees per annum per subscriber. "In Odisha, these schemes are administered through both public and private sector insurance companies, in tie-up with scheduled commercial banks, regional rural banks and cooperative banks. Bibhuti Biswal of Anugul district, who is a beneficiary of both the Bima schemes has said:-

Alexander Zverev upset world number one Novak Djokovic in straight sets to claim the season-ending ATP Finals and earn the biggest victory of his career. Djokovic was the heavy favourite but outclassed 6-4, 6-3 by the German last night in London.
The 21-year-old Zverev became the youngest champion of the season-ending event since Djokovic claimed the first of his five titles a decade ago, and the first from Germany since 1995.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid tributes to Rani Lakshmibai on her jayanti. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, Rani Lakshmibai is a source of inspiration for every Indian and her fortitude in the face of adversity and steadfast opposition to colonialism will never be forgotten. Mr Modi also paid tributes to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary.

  • The crucial and much awaited meeting of the Reserve Bank Of India board scheduled for today  - with finance ministry nominees and some independent directors, is reported by most papers this morning. "Government to push for governance reforms in RBI", headlines The Indian Express. Both sides have covered considerable ground in addressing two issues: ensuring relief and more credit to small  and medium firms and easing restrictions on state owned banks, to boost lending.
  • Yesterday's, suspected terror attack at a prayer hall in Amritsar is another major story covered in the papers. Hindustan Times writes, 'Two men on a motorcycle barged into  a Nirankari sect prayer hall and hurled a grenade, killing the preacher and two others, & injuring at least 20 people. Chief Minister Amrinder Singh said the possibility of the involvement of Khalistani or Kashmiri  groups backed by Pakistani  agencies could not be ruled out.
  • "PM to inaugurate 6,400 crore rupee Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMA) Expressway in Gurugram today", highlights The Pioneer. The Times of  India reports that finally, almost 15 years after it was concieved - the Western Peripheral Express will open for traffic today. The much awaited by-pass will help further de-congest Delhi roads.
  • And finally, amidst chants of 'Mary Com, Mary Com' Five times world boxing champion - MC Mary Com routed her Kazakistan opponent Aigerim Kessenayeva, in New Delhi yesterday. The Times of India writes with this win she glides easily into the quarter-finals of the Women's World Boxing Championship.
