Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the Subhash Chandra Bose museum at the iconic Red Fort in New Delhi to mark the leader's 122nd birth anniversary. He also inaugurated the Yaad-e-Jallian Museum on the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and World War I, the Museum on 1857- India's first war of Independence and Drishyakala-Museum on Indian Art within the Red Fort complex.
The Museum on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Indian National Army provides a detailed account of Subhash Chandra Bose and the history of Indian National Army.
In a series of tweets, Prime Minister said, it was extremely humbling for him to inaugurate four museums related to India's rich history and culture. He said, the entire complex of museums will be known as Kranti Mandir as a tribute to the revolutionary zeal and courage of the great freedom fighters. Mr Modi said, museums on Netaji Bose and Azad Hind Fauj are a key part of Kranti Mandir and history echoes from these walls.
The Prime Minister has urged art lovers to visit Drishyakala, which will take people through the finest aspects of Indian art and culture.
President Ram Nath Kovind today paid homage to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He paid floral tributes in front of a portrait of Netaji at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Leaders of different political parties paid floral tributes to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary at the Central Hall of Parliament. Senior BJP leader L K Advani, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Goel were among those who paid tributes to Bose. Later, Health Minister J P Nadda along with Bose's family paid tributes to Netaji in the central hall.

15th Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas (PBD) will culminate this evening. President Ram Nath Kovind will give the valedictory address and also confer the Pravasi Bharatiya awards to 30 recipients from all over the world. Secretary overseas Indian affairs Gyaneshwar Mule told media that there was largest ever registration of over seven thousand people this time and overseas delegates were about five thousand which is highest for any PBD. "Today, Ministry of External affairs released a help book for the migratory workers during PBD 2019 at Varanasi. NRIs participated in large numbers in the Plenary Sessions which were chaired by MoS for External affairs (Retd) Gen. Dr V K Singh. During the session on Indian Community Organizations working for Indian nationals in distressed Situation, NRIs associated with many Indian organizations abroad shared their experiences and gave precious suggestions on how to reach out to Indians in distress and make efforts resolving their issues. After the Convention, PBD participants will visit Prayagraj for Kumbh Mela tomorrow. They will then proceed to Delhi on 25th January and witness the Republic Day Parade at Rajpath in New Delhi on 26th January.

Services of Delhi Metro will be partially curtailed on Saturday as part of the security arrangements for the Republic Day celebrations. Entry and Exit at Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan Metro stations will remain closed from six in the morning till 12 Noon. Central Secretariat station will only be used for interchange of passengers. Patel Chowk and Lok Kalyan Marg Metro stations will remain closed from 8:45 AM to 12:00 Noon. All Metro parking lots will remain closed from 6 in the morning on the 25th to 2.00 PM on 26th of January.

Bihar government has decided to bring a separate Bill in the forthcoming budget session commencing from February 11 to implement 10 percent quota in jobs and education for economically weaker sections in general category. In Patna, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said, all legislative process for the quota implementation will be completed by February.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has been appointed as Congress General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh East. Jyotiraditya Scindia has been appointed Congress General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh West and  K C Venugopal has been given charge of Congress General Secretary (Organisation). The appointments were made by Congress President Rahul Gandhi. In a release, the Congress said, senior party leader Ghulam Nabi Azad will now be AICC general secretary for Haryana.

BJP leader Sambit Patra today said, Priyanka Gandhi's appointment as Congress General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh East indicates that Congress President Rahul Gandhi has failed on every front. He said, BJP and Congress are built on different foundations. Mr Patra added that whereas the BJP is one big family, the Congress recognizes only one family.
Talking to media, Mr Patra said:

The Election Commission of India, ECI,  has reviewed poll preparedness in Assam ahead of the general elections. Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Sahu said, the ECI held a video conference yesterday in presence of DGP and other senior officials of the state and reviewed poll preparedness including law and order situation. He said, apart from Assam, the ECI also reviewed poll preparedness with a few other states.

The BJP got the majority in the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council election in Assam. More from our correspondent:-
"After the recent success in the Panchayat polls, the ruling BJP has grabbed the power in the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council. The BJP got 19 seats while the Congress won 2 seats. Asom Gana Parishad candidate elected in 1 seat while independent candidates managed to get 6 seats. Among prominent candidates elected from the BJP, are Debolal Garlosa, Prajit Hojai, Samuel Changsan. The countdown for India's first satellite launch for the year is set to begin this evening. The Indian Space Research Organization, ISRO, will launch a students satellite Kalamsat and an imaging satellite Microsat-R, tomorrow. The national space agency's workhorse rocket PSLV C44 will launch them from the first launchpad at Satish Dhawan Space Center at Sriharikota, some 90 kilometers off Chennai. "The speciality of tomorrow's launch would be the rocket's configuration and its multiple utility. This is the first time the launch vehicle would have a flight with just two strap-on motors, called the DL mode. Another special feature of the PSLV C44 is that, its fourth and final fuel stage would play an additional role. After hurling the two payloads into the planned orbits, it will travel further into a circular orbit and provide an innovative platform for carrying out experiments in space. Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad has arrested nine men of a group allegedly aligned with the international terrorist organisation ISIS. Police today said, all individuals arrested are aged between 17 and 35 years. Four suspects were arrested from Aurangabad whereas five were arrested from Mumbra, Thane.

The Supreme Court has granted bail to four convicts in the Naroda Patiya massacre case in Gujarat in which 97 people were killed by a mob during the 2002 riots in the state. A bench, headed by Justice AM Khanwilkar, granted bail to the four convicts yesterday.

Mexican filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron's semi-autobiographical black-and-white drama, "Roma", and Yorgos Lanthimos' dark comedy, "The Favourite", have topped the 91st Academy Awards nominations with 10 nods each. The Oscar nominations were announced last night.
"Black Panther" became the first superhero film to be nominated in the best picture category.
"Period. End of Sentence", a film on menstruation, set in India, has earned a nomination in the Documentary Short Subject category. The film has been directed by award-winning filmmaker Rayka Zehtabchi. The 26-minute film is about women in India fighting against the deeply rooted stigma for menstruation. It follows girls and women in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh and their experience with the installation of a pad machine in their village.

In Cricket, India defeated New Zealand by eight wickets in the first ODI at Napier today to take a 1-nil lead in the 5-match series. The hosts' decision to bat first backfired badly as they were skittled out by Team India for a paltry 157 in just 38 overs. Kuldeep Yadav scalped 4 wickets, while Mohammed Shami bagged 3. In the process, Shami became the fastest Indian to bag 100 ODI wickets. Kiwi Skipper Kane Williamson provided the only resistance. He made 64.
As Team India began the chase, the play was stopped for nearly half an hour due to the setting sun. The target of 158 in 50 overs was revised to 156 in 49 overs. Later, the Men in Blue chased down the target with almost 14 overs to spare and 8 wickets in hand.

In Tennis, Serena Williams' bid for a record-equaling 24th Grand Slam Singles title ended today, as she made a shock quarterfinal exit from the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the season, at Melbourne. The 37-year old American, seeded 16th, was stunned by seventh placed Czech Karolina Pliskova 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.
For Pliskova, she will play in the semi-finals of the event for the first time, just like her opponent Japan's Naomi Osaka.
Czech Petra Kvitova and American Danielle Rose Collins have already set up a semi-final clash.
In Men's Singles, Frenchman Lucas Pouille booked a place in the semi-final, with a 7-6, 6-3, 6-7, 6-4 win over Canada's Milos Raonic. World number one Novak Djokovic of Serbia will battle it out against Japan's Kei Nishikori in the fourth and final last-8 match later today.
