Prime Minister Narendra Modi has warned Pakistan that attacks such as the one on CRPF soldiers in Pulwama will not weaken India and those responsible will have to pay a very heavy price. He said if India's neighbour, which has been totally isolated in the world, thinks it can destabilise India through its conspiracies, then it is making a big mistake. Mr Modi said, this will never happen. 
इस हमले की वजह से देश में जितना आक्रोश है, लोगों का खून खौल रहा है। यह मैं भली-भांति समझ पा रहा हूं। इस समय जो देश की अपेक्षाएं हैं, कुछ कर गुजरने की भावनाएं हैंवो भी स्वाभाविक है। हमारे सुरक्षाबलों को पूर्ण स्वतंत्रता दे दी गई है।
The Prime Minister said this while flagging off Vande Bharat Express train from New Delhi Railway station today. Mr. Modi thanked all the nations that have supported India and condemned the incident in the strongest  terms and urged them to come together to crush terrorism.  Mr. Modi also urged political parties  to refrain from any kind of political mudslinging as this is a very sensitive and emotional matter.  He said the message should go around the world that India is fighting unitedly against such gruesome act.

BJP President Amit Shah today appealed to political parties to rise above politics and come together on the issue of national security saying these are times when they must strengthen their resolve to make India stronger and safer. His appeal comes in the wake of terror attacks on security forces in Kashmir. In a series of tweets, Mr Shah said, 130 crore Indians stand in complete solidarity with the families of the courageous heroes who devoted their life in the service of the nation.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi has said, his party is fully supporting the government and country's security forces in view of Pulwama terror attack. Briefing reporters in New Delhi today, Mr. Gandhi said, such type of violence is disgusting and no force can divide or break  India.
Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh said, India will work as a united nation to deal with this menace of terrorism and will never compromise with the terror forces. Dr Singh said, it is high time to convey support to the jawans and their families.

India has withdrawn the Most Favoured Nation status granted to Pakistan. The decision in this regard was taken during the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security, CCS in New Delhi today. Briefing reporters about the decision after the meeting, Union Minister Arun Jaitley said,
Mr. Jaitley said it has also been decided that Ministry of External Affairs will initiate all possible diplomatic steps to ensure the complete isolation of Pakistan from the international community. He said, the CCS chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi observed a two-minute silence in honour of the CRPF personnel who laid down their lives for the nation. He said, a detailed assessment of the incident was also carried out in the CCS meet. Mr Jaitley said, people who are responsible and have supported this act of terrorism will have to pay a heavy price for it.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh has left for Srinagar to take stock of the situation in the wake of the terrorist attack. An official said, Mr Singh will hold review meetings with senior security and police officials to make ground level assessment and review further operational actions.  The Ministry is also rushing teams of NIA and forensic experts to carry out investigation into the dastardly attack.

People across the country have condemned the attack.  In Uttar Pradesh, the State Legislative assembly today paid homage to martyrs who lost their lives in yesterday's terror attack in  Pulwama. The house also observed two minutes silence. Later, it was adjourned till Monday. 
Among the martyrs, twelve are from Uttar Pradesh. The districts to which these martyrs belong are Chandauli, Maharajganj, Shamli, Devaria , Mainpuri, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Agra, Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat and Unnao. More from our correspondent-
People  in Uttar Pradesh are saddened at cowardice incident and paying their homage  to martyrs . Condolences meetings are bring observed across the state. State government has declared financial assistance of rupees 25 lakh to the family members of each martyre. One member of each family will be given government service. The connecting road to martyr's native village will be named after his name. Ministers and public representatives and district officials will participate in funeral of martyrs. In Bihar, the state legislative assembly has paid tribute to the CRPF jawans. After expressing grief and solidarity with family members of the martyrs, the house was adjourned till 2.00 PM. 
In Punjab, state legislative assembly,  members observed two-minutes silence in the memory of the martyrs. The house was later adjourned for the day. Addressing the assembly, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh urged the Centre to give a befitting reply to the 'dastardly act' of Pakistan.
In Karnataka, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has condoled the demise the CRPF soldiers. He and Opposition leader in the legislative assembly and former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa expressed deep condolence to the bereaved family members of the CRPF soldier H. Guru, a native of Mandya district in Karnataka who was martyred in the attack.

Countries from across the world have condemned the terror attack with the US, Russia and France asserting that they stand with India in combating the menace of terrorism. Top US lawmakers rallied behind India and extended their condolences and support. The Russian Embassy stressed the need to combat such inhuman acts with a decisive and collective response, without any double standards. Ambassadors of France, the US, Germany, Australia, Turkey, Canada and the Czech Republic also condemned the attack.UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has said that the perpetratorsmust  be brought to justice.

China has condemned the Pulwama terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir yesterday. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that the country firmly opposes and strongly condemns all forms of terrorism. However, when asked about China's stand on the listing of JeM chief Maulana Masood Azhar as global terrorist by the UN Security Council, the spokesperson said JeM has been included in the UNSC terrorism sanctions list, and that China will continue to handle the relevant sanctions issue in a constructive and responsible manner.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated and laid foundation stone of various development projects in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. Mr Modi laid the foundation stone of Defence Corridor there. Jhansi is one of the six nodal points of the Uttar Pradesh defence corridor. He also laid the foundation stone of doubling of 425 kilometre long Jhansi-Manikpur and Bhimsen-Khairar railway lines. The Prime Minister inaugurated the electrification of 297 kilometre long section of Jhansi - Khairar section. He also inaugurated Pahari Dam Modernization Project.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Vande Bharat Express from New Delhi Railway station today. The express is the country's first semi high speed train. Our correspondent reports that the train will run between New Delhi and Varanasi via Kanpur and Allahabad. It will cover the distance in eight hours and will run on all days except Mondays and Thursdays. 
Vande Bharat Express will run up to a maximum speed of 160 kilometers per hour and will provide a totally new travel experience to passengers. Speed, Safety and Service are the hallmarks of this train.  All coaches are equipped with automatic doors, GPS based audio-visual passenger information system, on-board hotspot Wi-Fi for entertainment purposes and comfortable seating.  The train has been designed and built in India and has regenerative braking system in the coaches which can save up to 30 per cent of electrical energy. President Ram Nath Kovind, as advised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has directed that the Finance and Corporate Affairs portfolios be assigned to Union Minister Arun Jaitley. Mr. Jaitley, who left for New York last month, returned home last week after undergoing medical treatment. On 23rd of January, the charge of the Finance Ministry and Corporate Affairs had been given to Union Minister Piyush Goyal on a temporary basis.

British Prime Minister Theresa May has suffered a fresh defeat in a Commons vote on her Brexit strategy. She lost the indicative motion in the House of Commons, with 303 MPs voting against it and 258 for it. Opposition Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn called on Ms May, who was not in the Commons chamber for the vote, to admit that her Brexit strategy has failed.
In the Senior National Badminton Championship at Guwahati, Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu sailed into the singles semi-finals, along with Nagpur's Vaishnavi Bhale and Ashmita Chaliha of Assam. In the quarter finals, Sindhu defeated Riya Mookerjee, Vaishnavi outplayed Shriyanshi Pardeshi and Ashmita defeated Aakarshi Kashyap. Ashmita has now set up a semifinal clash with Sindhu.
In the men's singles, Parupalli Kashyap and B Sai Praneeth entered the quarterfinals.
