The Army today said it has eliminated the top leadership of Jaish-e-Muhammad in less than 100 hours of the Pulwama terror attack on the CRPF convoy. Briefing media in Srinagar this morning on yesterday's encounter in Pinglena area of the district, the commander of the 15th Corps, Lt General K S Dhillon said the JeM leadership based in Pakistan and supported by ISI was behind the CRPF convoy attack. He said Kamran, the top commander of the JeM which carried out the attack on the CRPF convoy in Lethpora area of Pulwama on the 14th of this month has been eliminated. 
"I am happy to inform the country that in less than 100 hours, we eliminated the JeM leadership in the valley which was being handled by JeM from Pakistan. The details of the terrorists killed are - two Pakistani terrorists and one local conduit. I would request all the mothers of Kashmir to please request their sons who have joined terrorism to surrender and get back to the mainstream. Anyone who has picked up gun in Jammu and Kashmir will be eliminated unless he surrenders."
Lt General Dhillon said the role of those involved in the attack is being investigated. General Dhillon informed that the injured CRPF jawans are doing well.

The mortal remains of Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhoundiyal were consigned to flames with full state honours at Haridwar in Uttarakhand today. Major Dhoundiyal was martyred during an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Pinglena area of Pulwama district yesterday. The mortal remains of a the 34-year-old Major were brought to his home in Dehradun yesterday amid anti-Pakistan slogans. A large number of people including Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat paid floral tribute to the martyr at his residence this morning.

Curfew was relaxed in parts of Jammu city for three hours from 11.30 A.M  to 1.30 P.M today. It was relaxed for three hours yesterday as well. The curfew was imposed on Friday following anti-Pakistan protests and sporadic incidents of violence over the terror attack in Pulwama district. The District Magistrate said relaxation has been given to allow people to purchase essential commodities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today invoked Sant Ravidas on his birth anniversary to urge people to end caste discrimination and identify those who promote it for self interest. Mr Modi said caste discrimination is an impediment in achieving social harmony.
Laying the foundation stone of Ravidas Janmasthali area development project in Varanasi, the Prime Minister said all should get benefits of government schemes irrespective of caste, creed and other factors. He said Guru Ravidas had envisioned an India where there is no discrimination and that everyone is taken care of. Mr Modi said his government has worked on this principle in the last four-and-a-half years for betterment of people and the country's development. 
"संत रविदास जी कहते हैं ''ऐसा चाहूं राज मैं जहां मिले सबन को अन्, छोट-बड़ो सब सम बसैं रैदास रहे प्रसन्'' यानि गुरूजी ने ऐसे भारत की कल्पना की थी जहां बिना किसी भेदभाव के सबकी मूल आवश्यकताओं का ध्यान रखा जाये। केन्द्र की सरकार बीते साढ़े चार वर्ष से इसी भावना को पूरी ईमानदारी से जमीन पर उतारने की भरसक कोशिश कर रही है।"
The Prime Minister hoped that the teachings of great saints inspire the young generation. Mr Modi said his government focused on "Panchdharma" (five tenets), with emphasis on education, income, medicine, irrigation and addressing public grievances. 
"सबका साथ सबका विकास और विकास की पंचधारा यानि बच्चों को पढ़ाई, युवा को कमाई, बुजुर्गों को दवाई, किसान को सिंचाई और जन-जन की सुनवाई, यही सुनिश्चित करने में हमारी सरकार लगातार प्रयास कर रही है।"
Mr Modi said his government tried to change the Chalta hai mentality that had crept in people. Earlier, the Prime Minister flagged off the first ever diesel to electric converted locomotive twin engine of ten thousand Horse Power at DLW, Varanasi. He also inspected an exhibition on locomotives at DLW campus. More from our correspondent:

Such locomotives will be more economical and will increase the speed of goods trains. Mr Modi dedicated to the nation two hospitals, newly constructed Mahamana Madan Mohan Malviya cancer hospital at BHU and Bhabha cancer hospital, Lahartara. With the inauguration of both cancer hospitals, Varanasi becomes an important centre for quality treatment and care in Cancer related ailments. These hospitals will bring comprehensive yet affordable cancer care to the patients not only in Uttar Pradesh but also from other states and neighbouring countries like Nepal. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has said the Government is taking steps for the welfare of Tribals. Mr Naidu said, there should be no discrimination on the basis of caste, creed and religion. Mr Naidu was delivering the Foundation Day Lecture Constitution and Tribes’, on the occasion of the 15th Foundation Day Celebrations of National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, in New Delhi today. The Vice President said, there is a need to preserve the country's rich cultural heritage.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi today launched a range of citizen safety initiatives in New Delhi. It includes the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) for women safety in 16 states and Union territories. Persons in distress can dial a pan-India number-112. Under this system, all the states have to set up a dedicated Emergency Response Centre (ERC). A citizen may Press power button on a smart phone thrice quickly to activate a panic call to ERC. In case of a feature phone, long press on number 5 or 9 on the phone keypad will activate the panic call. The ERCs are connected to District Command Centres and the Emergency Response Vehicles, and assistance to victims is facilitated through them. An amount of over 321 crore rupees has been provided for this initiative through the Nirbhaya fund. The Home Minister also launched two portals-Investigation Tracking System for Sexual Offences and Safe City Implementation Monitoring Portal. Mr Singh also launched the DNA analysis facilities for States.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Singh said that the Government is fully committed to women's safety. He said many steps have been taken, including strengthening the Indian Penal Code and developing a holistic approach to bring a change in people's behaviour. In her address, Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi said, the Government has been pro-active towards critical issues of women safety and also adopted the solution driven approach.

One Indian Air Force pilot died after two IAF aircraft crashed during a rehearsal for the aero show in Bengaluru today. According to preliminary reports, three pilots ejected successfully from the Surya Kiran aerobatics Hawk aircraft before the planes crashed to the ground. Police sources said one pilot has died of injuries and another civilian is injured. Two pilots are reported to be safe.
The collision took place near the Yelahanka Air Force base at 11.50 AM during the rehearsal for Aero India show starting tomorrow. Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who is in the city, has rushed to the accident site.

The ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu has forged an alliance with PMK ahead of forthcoming Lok Sabha polls. An agreement was signed by AIADMK Coordinator O Panneerselvam and Joint Coordinator Edappadi K Palaniswamy and the PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss and its president GK Mani in Chennai today. As per the agreement, seven Parliamentary seats will be given to the PMK to contest, besides a Rajya Sabha seat that gets vacant later this year. Our correspondent has more:
"The Paattaali Makkal Katchi PMK has reversed its decision taken in 2011, of not having any truck with either of the Dravidian parties, by forging hands with the AIADMK. It justifies the decision saying its augmented presence in Parliament is essential to further the interests of Tamil Nadu. It has also made a ten-point charter of demands including interlinking of rivers and total prohibition. Intense parleys between the AIADMK and the BJP are also going on to join hands for an alliance in the state ahead of the General Elections. Jayasingh, AIR News, Chennai."

In Telangana, ten ministers were inducted into the state cabinet today. Governor ESL Narasimhan administered the oath of office and secrecy to the ministers at a ceremony in Raj Bhavan. Six new faces have been inducted besides four former ministers of the earlier TRS Government. More from our correspondent:
"The formation of the full fledged cabinet was over due for more than two months ever since the Assembly elections in December last year. The fresh induction includes six new faces and four former ministers of the earlier TRS Government. The erstwhile 10 districts of the state barring Khammam, have been given representation in the cabinet. Women members in the Assembly have missed the bus this time too. The party leaders have been given feelers that there will be another expansion after the Lok Sabha elections. Lakshmi, Airnews, Hyderabad."

Sixteen US States have sued President Donald Trump over his plan to declare a national emergency to get funding for his controversial wall along the border with Mexico. The lawsuit came after Trump on Friday declared that he would spend billions of dollars more on border barriers than Congress had granted him. The National Emergencies Act allows the President to declare a national emergency and unlock a stash of funds by invoking certain statutory authority.
