The NDA todayreleased a list of 39 candidates for the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar. The BJPhas denied tickets to seven sitting MPs, including Shatrughan Sinha. This wasannounced at a joint press conference of state party Presidents of BJP, JD(U)and LJP in Patna. BJP in-charge Bhupendra Yadav said, Union MinisterRavishankar Prasad will contest from Patna Sahib constituency. Mr Yadav said:

"पूर्वी चंपारन - श्री राधा मोहन सिंह जी, भारतीय जनता पार्टी; कटिहार - श्री दुलाल चंद गोस्वामी, जनता दल यूनाइटेड; सारण - श्री राजीव प्रताप रूडी, भारतीय जनता पार्टी; बेगूसराय - श्री गिरिराज सिंह जी; पटना साहिब - श्री रविशंकर प्रसाद जी; बक्सर - श्री अश्विनी कुमार चौबे; जमुईलोक जनशक्ति पार्टी के संसदीय दल के अध्यक्ष और वे वर्तमान सांसद हैं, श्री चिराग कुमार पासवान जी।"

This time, LJPChief Ram Vilas Paswan will not contest from Hajipur constituency. His brotherand state LJP President  Pashupati KumarParas will contest from this seat. LJP has not announced the name of thecandidate for Khagaria seat.

JD(U) KaushalYadav has been made candidate for Nawada assembly by polls.

BJP will contestfrom Dehri assembly by polls. Name of the candidate will be declared later.

Earlier, the BJPreleased its second list of 36 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections late lastnight. It includes 23 candidates for Andhra Pradesh, where polling will be heldin the first phase on April 11. The list also contains names of six candidates forMaharashtra, five for Odisha and one each for Assam and Meghalaya. BJP NationalSpokesperson Sambit Patra will contest the Lok Sabha election from Puriconstituency in Odisha, while Basanta Kumar Panda will fight from Kalahandi.

For AndhraPradesh, the list includes the name of Dilip Kumar Kilaru who will contest fromVijayawada Parliamentary Constituency.

In Maharashtra,candidates who have been given tickets include Girish Bapat from Pune and SmitaUday Wagh from Jalgaon.

The BJP has alsoreleased the second list of its candidates for Assembly elections in AndhraPradesh and Odisha. The list contains the names of 51 candidates for AndhraPradesh and 22 candidates for Odisha.

The Congress has released its 7th list ofcandidates for the Lok Sabha polls. It was finalised by the party CentralElection Committee containing the names of 35 candidates. The list has fourcandidates from Chhattishgarh, three from Jammu and Kashmir, five fromMaharashtra, two from Odisha, eight from Tamil Nadu, nine from Uttar Pradesh,One each from Puducherry and Telangana and Two from Tripura. Raj Babbar willfight from Fatehpuri Sikri this time. The has party fielded former UnionMinister Renuka Chowdhury from Khammam in Telangana.

The Congress also released a list of 54 candidates forOdisha Assembly elections.

The Nationalist Congress Party announced candidates forthe Madha and Osmanabad Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra.

The Janata Dal(Secular) has decided not to field any candidate for the Lok Sabha elections inMaharashtra.

In Assam, AIUDFdeclared the first list of candidates for the Lok Sabha polls. Party Presidentand sitting MP Badruddin Ajmal will fight from Dhubri seat. The party has giventicket to Rafikul Islam at Barpeta and Radheshyam Biswas at Karimganjseat.  The party will fight in a total of8 seats in Assam. The list for the remaining seats will be declared later.


In Assam,development and protection of the rights of indigenous people are the main pollissues in the state. Talking to AIR, BJP Spokesperson Numal Momin has said thatalong with development, fight against corruption and protection of indigenouspeople’s right would be party’s prominent issues in Assam. Mr Momin said, theparty has already started campaigning.

OppositionCongress Spokesperson Apurba Bhattacharya said that during campaigning, partywould raise issues of development, unemployment, justice to all and savingdemocracy.

BJP’s ally AsomGana Parishad, AGP Spokesman Tapan Das said that implementation of the AssamAccord and protection to indigenous people - would be party’s top agenda. AGPwho would fight in 3 seats - has fielded Mani Madhav Mahanta from Kaliabor.

Mr Das said thatcandidates in remaining two seats would be declared soon. Other partiesincluding AIUDF, Bodoland People’s Front, Left parties, United People's PartyLiberal, UPPL among others also started campaigning.


In Bihar, theElection commission has instructed the state government  to deploy additional security forces in Naxal affected areas of the state toensure trouble free polls. During a review meeting in Nawada, DeputyCommissioner of the Election Commission, Chandra Kumar asked concernedauthorities to take necessary steps to ensure free and fair polls besidesincreasing voter turnout. The first phase of elections in Naxal infestedNawada, Gaya, Aurangabad and Jamui will be held on April 11. Senior officialsincluding all DMs and SPs participated in the review meeting.


President RamNath Kovind today administered the oath of office to Justice Pinaki ChandraGhose as first Lokpal chairperson of the country. The oath was administered ata ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. We have a report:-

"JusticeGhose was named the country's first Chairperson of Lokpal, the anti-corruptionombudsman, on Tuesday. Former Chief Justices of different high courts -Justices Dilip B Bhosale, Pradip Kumar Mohanty, Abhilasha Kumari - besidessitting Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court Ajay Kumar Tripathi wereappointed as judicial members. Former first woman chief of Sashastra Seema BalArchana Ramasundaram, ex-Maharashtra chief secretary Dinesh Kumar Jain, formerIRS officer Mahender Singh and ex-IAS officer Indrajeet Prasad Gautam are thenon-judicial members. 66-year old Justice Ghose retired as a Supreme Courtjudge in May, 2017. He was serving as the member of the National Human RightsCommission when his name was announced for the post of Lokpal chairperson. TheLokpal and the Lokayukta Act, which envisages appointment of a Lokpal at theCentre and Lokayuktas in states to look into cases of corruption againstcertain categories of public servants, was passed in 2013. A Delhi courthas ordered attachment of fugitive Vijay Mallya's properties in Bengaluru in acase relating to FERA violations.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Deepak Sherawat issuedfresh directions after the Bengaluru Police, through the EnforcementDirectorate soughtmore time to execute its earlier order in this regard.

The courtdirected the state police to attach the properties by July 10, the next date ofhearing.Mallya was declared a proclaimed offender by the court on January 4last year for evading its summons in the case. It had declared Mallya aproclaimed offender for evading summons in a Foreign Exchange Management Act(FERA) violation case after noting that he had failed to appear despiterepeated summons.


The nation ispaying homage to great freedom fighters - Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev ontheir martyrdom day today. On this day in 1931 British rulers had executed themin Lahore for their revolutionary activities against the British rule. Theywere hanged a day before the scheduled date of execution.

Prime MinisterNarendra Modi paid tribute to the martyrs. In a tweet Mr. Modi said, thesacrifices of these great freedom fighters will always inspire countrymen.

In PunjabHaryana and Chandigarh, people paid tributes to Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdevon Shaheedo divas. The Akhand Path was performed at a memorial of Mother ofBhagat Singh at village Moran wali in Hoshiarpur district.

In his blog,Prime Minister Modi also recalled the contributions made by Dr Ram Manohar Lohiadescribing him as a prolific thinker, exceptional intellectual, revolutionaryand devout patriot on his jayanti today. He said, Dr Lohia wrote aboutmodernising agriculture and empowering farmers, which the NDA Government iseffectively doing through efforts such as Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi,Krishi Sinchai Yojana, e-Nam and Soil Health Cards.

Mr Modi said hisMantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas as well as its track record in the last fiveyears show that the government has made a long-lasting contribution infulfilling the vision of Dr. Lohia.

The PrimeMinister said, Dr. Lohia always believed that dynastic politics was inimical todemocracy. Mr Modi said, Dr Lohia  wouldhave been flabbergasted to see his followers think about their own familiesfirst instead of the nation. Mr Modi said, today those parties that falselyclaim to be Dr Lohia’s followers are desperate to form an opportunistic MahaMilawat or adulteration alliances with the same Congress which is both ironicaland reprehensible.


President Ram Nath Kovind paid tributes to Dr RamManohar Lohia on his birth anniversary. In his message, the President said DrLohia dedicated his life to the quest for a just, fair and egalitarian society.

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu said Dr Lohia was aleading figure of the freedom struggle and took active part in Quit Indiamovement. 


BJP President Amit Shah today asked the Congress tocome clear on Sam Pitroda's statement. Speaking to media in New Delhi, Mr Shahaccused the Congress party of always indulging in appeasement and votebankpolitics. Mr Shah said, Pitroda's statement questioning the airstrike wasdemoralizing and the Congress must make its stand clear on Pakistan.

"कांग्रेस पार्टी के अध्यक्ष जी ने इस बात को देश की जनता के सामने स्पष् करना चाहिए कि आप इस प्रकार के जघन् हमले को जो देश की जनता को झिंकझोर कर रख देते हैं उसको आप सामान् घटना मानते हैं। क्या कांग्रेस पार्टी मानती है कि जो आतंकवादी घटनाएं देश में होती हैं इसका पाकिस्तान सरकार, पाकिस्तान की सेना से कोई रिश्ता है या नहीं। इसकी स्पष्टता करनी चाहिए।"


CongressPresident Rahul Gandhi has alleged that Modi government did nothing for farmersand labourers during his five year rule. Addressing a rally at Purnia in Bihar,he said that farmers do not need chowkidars. 

"आपकी कोई मदद नहीं करता, सरकार कुछ नहीं देती आपको। राजस्थान, मध्यप्रदेश, छत्तीसगढ़ में कांग्रेस की सरकार आई। दो दिन में भारतीय किसान का कर्जा माफ हो गया।"


Special counselRobert Mueller has submitted the much-awaited probe report on alleged collusionbetween Russia and US President Donald Trump's 2016 election campaign. It endedan investigation that has cast a shadow over the Trump presidency for nearly twoyears.

A justicedepartment official said that Mueller's report did not recommend any furtherindictments.
