Prime Minister Narendra Modi says the government laid the foundation of development in the last five years and work on making New India is progressing at a fast pace. He addressed election rallies at Charkhi Dadri and Kurukshetra in Haryana today.

"बीते पांच वर्षो में विकास की बुनियाद हमने रखी। उस पर विकसित और सशक्‍त नए भारत के निर्माण का काम तेजी से शुरू हो चुका है। नए भारत के निर्माण का यह निश्‍चय हमारे गांवों में दिख रहा है, गरीबों के घरों में दिख रहा है। हमारे गांव ही देश में हो रहे सामाजिक परिवर्तन को आज गति दे रहे हैं, नई ऊर्जा दे रहे हैं।

The Prime Minister said that people are feeling happy about various decisions taken by the Central government in the national interest, but leaders of Congress always criticise them. In Kurukshetra, Mr. Modi said Congress is making hue and cry over the decision of abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and promoters of terrorism are targeting the country by using it.

"कांग्रेस के नेताओं का रवैया हमेशा नकारात्‍मक ही रहता है। आर्टिकल 370 को लेकर भी ये लोग देश और दुनिया में हाय तौबा मचा रहे हैं। आतंक के सरपरस्‍त इनके बयानों का सहारा लेकर भारत पर ही निशाना साध रहे हैं। चुनाव आते हैं, जाते हैं लेकिन देश तो अजर अमर होता है।"

Mr Modi highlighted the schemes initiated by the BJP government for women to make them financially independent. He said this Diwali should be dedicated to daughters who are making their families, societies and the country proud with their achievements.

The Prime Minister said, the government's sports policy has benefited sportspersons in the state. He said, during his recent informal meeting, Chinese President Xi Jinping told him that he watched the 'Dangal' movie which showed what wonders daughters are capable of making. Mr Modi said, these words from the Chinese president made him feel proud about Haryana.

Campaigning for Assembly Elections has intensified in Maharashtra. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today addressed two rallies in Yavatmal and Wardha. In Yavatmal, Mr Gandhi accused the government of favouring the rich and ignoring the plight of the poor and farmers. Stating that the proposed NYAY scheme was to jump-start the economy, Mr. Gandhi reminded the government that the economy is not run by industrialists, but by farmers, labourers and mid-size businesses. Attacking the union government at the rally in Wardha, Mr. Gandhi said Congress government gave 35,000 crore rupees to the poor through MNREGA and waived farm loans worth 70,000 crore rupees.

"इस देश को पैसे की कोई कमी नहीं है। बस पूरे का पूरा पैसा 15-20 लोगों के हवाले किया जा रहा है। मनरेगा गया, भोजन का अधिकार गया, आरटीआई गया, जमीन अधिकरण बिल गया, आदिवासी बिल गया, जो भी गरिबों की मदद करने की योजनाएं थी एक के बाद एक कटती गई।"

Rahul Gandhi asked the people of Maharashtra to vote for a government that will work for the betterment of the poor, farmers and small businesses.

"Even as the Congress leader claimed that he was confident that Maharashtra would elect a new government that would work for the benefit of poor, farmers, and small and medium enterprises, the Bhartiya Janta Party, in its manifesto promised to work towards building a drought free Maharashtra, set up a separate maintenance department for the national and state highways, focussing on building infrastructure and the Marathwada drinking water grid project. Meanwhile, as campaigning hits its final phase, big wigs from all political parties have hit the road. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also scheduled to address multiple rallies in the state, beginning tomorrow and ending with the big rally in Mumbai on Friday, the last day for campaigning. The decision has been taken in view of the past instances of advertisements of offending and misleading nature in print media on such occasions which vitiate elections.

President Trump's statement comes after he imposed sanctions on Turkish ministries and senior officials, proposed to raise steel tariffs and end negotiations on a 100 billion dollar trade deal with Ankara. He said, this order will enable the US to impose powerful additional sanctions on those who may be involved in serious human rights abuses, obstructing a ceasefire, preventing displaced persons from returning home, forcibly repatriating refugees or threatening the peace, security or stability in Syria.

Vice-President Mike Pence said, the President also phoned his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to demand an immediate truce. The Turkish offensive, which began last week, aims to push the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) from the border region. Turkey considers the biggest militia in the SDF a terrorist organisation. The Turkish government wants to create a "safe zone" in the area, where it can resettle up to two million Syrian refugees currently in Turkey. According to the United Nations, dozens of civilians have been killed in the operation so far and at least one lakh sixty thousand have fled the area.

Meanwhile, Russia has said, it will not allow clashes between Turkish and Syrian forces.
