Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the tripartite accord signed between Centre, Assam Government and Bodo groups will further protect and popularize the unique culture of the Bodo people. In a series of tweets, Mr. Modi said, these people will get access to a wide range of development oriented initiatives. He added that the Centre is committed to doing everything possible to help the Bodo people realize their aspirations.

The Historic tripartite agreement was signed between Centre, Assam government and different factions of National Democratic Front of Bodoland in New Delhi today. The agreement was signed in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

Joint Secretary in the Union Home Ministry Satyendra Garg, Assam Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna and top leadership of the four factions of the NDFB signed the agreement. The accord will provide political, economic, executive and land rights to Bodo tribals and also will safeguard their cultural and linguistic identities. The Centre and State Government will provide financial assistance of 1,500 crore rupees for economic development of the community.

Speaking after the agreement, Home Minister Amit Shah said that this historic pact will pave a new path of peace and development in Assam and North Eastern states.

"मैं मानता हूं कि ये एग्रीमेंट बोडो  क्षेत्र के  लिए और  असम  के  लिए, एक  बहुत  विकास  का  रास्ता  प्रशस्  करने  वाला  एग्रीमेंट  होने  जा रहा है।  नारा दिया था प्रधानमंत्री जी ने सबका साथ, सबका विकास और अब इसके साथ सबका  विश्वास  जोड़कर  ये  पूरे  नॉर्थ ईस्  क्षेत्र को , अशांति से बाहर लाने का अस्थिरता से बाहर लाने का प्रयास हुआ है।"

Mr Shah said, during all these years of Bodo conflict, over four thousand innocent people were killed. He said, next of kin of the people, who lost their lives in the conflict, will be given financial assistance of five lakh rupees by the government. The Home Minister said that on the death anniversary of Mahatama Gandhi this year, the insurgents will surrender and join the mainstream. He said, government will fulfill all the promises made to the Bodo people.

Speaking on the agreement, Assam Chief Minister Sarbanada Sonowal said, this agreement will maintain the territorial integrity of Assam and will also provide opportunity for holistic development of  Bodo community.

"इस समझौते के द्वारा असम की जो  टेरीटोरियल  इंटीग्रिटी हमेशा इन्टेक्ट रहेगा। दूसरी बात शांति व्यवस्था हमेशा से ही सुरक्षित रहेगा, और तीसरी बात बोडो कम्युनिटी  का आल राउंड डेवलपमेंट ये संभव होगा। उनकी सामाजिक, सांस्कृतिक, भाषा, आईडेंटिटि, लैण् राइट, सब सही सुरक्षित किया जाएगा और उनके स्वाभिमान को सही इज्जत दिया जाएगा।"

President of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha Taren Bodo also expressed happiness over the accord.

“We are very happy, this is a milestone of the movement leaders like NBF. We are happy through the peace talks, specially the government of India, they are trying to bring the extremists organisations in the mainstream. This is a good sign for the society and for the nation.”

A commission will be appointed under the Sixth Schedule after the agreement. The commission will include representatives of State Government and other stakeholders. It will submit is recommendations within six months from the date of notification.

It is the third tripartite agreement to end the violence in the region. Earlier, the tripartite agreements in 1993 and 2003 were signed leading to creation of Bodoland Autonomous and Bodoland Territorial Councils.


Union Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba today reviewed the situation arising out of outbreak of Novel Coronavirus in China and it was decided that steps may be taken to prepare for possible evacuation of Indian nationals in Wuhan. During the meeting in New Delhi, it was decided that Ministry of External Affairs will make a request to the Chinese authorities in this regard. Embassy of India is in talks with China for evacuation of Indians in Wuhan. Prasar Bharati Special Correspondent in Beijing reports that Indian Embassy has been urging the Indians in Wuhan to provide all their details so that all the formalities with Chinese authorities may be completed. Civil Aviation Ministry and Health Ministry will make arrangements for transport and quarantine facilities.

No positive case of Coronavirus has been reported so far in India. Home Ministry has been asked to ensure that Integrated Check Posts initiate screening of visitors across Nepal border. States have been requested to provide health staff for these check posts.

Earlier, Health Ministry also held a review meeting today with Chief Secretaries to review the preparedness and screening in five states having border with Nepal.

Meanwhile, China is racing against time to contain the spread of Coronavirus which has killed 81 people in the country and infected around 2,876 persons globally with 41 overseas cases.


Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu today asserted that there is no scope for outside interference in India's internal matters. Addressing a gathering after a book launch event in New Delhi, Mr. Naidu expressed his concern over the trend of foreign bodies interfering in matters that are completely within the purview of the Indian Parliament and the Indian Government. He said that such efforts are totally uncalled for and unwarranted and expressed hope that they will refrain from making such statements in future.

The Vice President said that as a mature Republic and democratic polity, India is capable of addressing the concerns of its citizens and needs no advice or guidance in such matters from others.


The government today announced sale of 100 per cent stake in debt-laden Air India. Issuing the preliminary bid document for the strategic disinvestment today, the government has set March 17, as the deadline for submitting expression of interest. As part of the strategic disinvestment, Air India would also sell 100 per cent stake in low-cost airline Air India Express and 50 per cent shareholding in joint venture AISATS. Management control of the airline would also be transferred to the successful bidder.

Briefing media in New Delhi, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has said that Air India along with Air India Express is a great asset and the successful bidder will continue to use Air India brand.

 “Air India along with Air India Express is a great asset it has 146 Aircrafts in its fleets . They have worldwide bilateral rights and spread over domestic as well as International slots, Aircraft in Air Indian and Air India Express are one of the youngest fleets, Air Indian and Air India Express have almost 51 percent share of the international traffic to and from India have a combined revenue of rupees 30632 crores in 2018-19.”


Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal today suggested the Brazilian side to reconstitute and activate India-Brazil Business Leaders Forum to boost economic ties between the two countries. He was speaking at the luncheon meeting of business leaders of both the sides in the presence of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro in New Delhi. The Minister said, both the countries have set up a target to take the bilateral trade to 15 billion dollars by 2022 from the current 8.3 billion. Mr. Goyal welcomed the announcement made during the visit of Brazilian President to India for visa free travel between the two countries.

 “I am indeed grateful that the honorable President has decided to have visa-free travel between India and Brazil, infact India already had a very friendly e-visa facility in both for business and tourists and I am sure with this new announcement which we hope to see operational soon we can see a greater degree of visitors flowing between two countries expand our tourism.

Speaking at the function, President Jair Bolsonaro said that huge potential is there for Indian businesses in Brazil.


Senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah today came down heavily on Aam Aadmi Party accusing it of supporting divisive forces in the country. Addressing a rally in Rithala, Mr Shah criticized Delhi Government for not giving permission to police to prosecute people allegedly involved in raising Anti-India slogans in Jawaharlal Nehru University. He accused Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of not implementing several Central schemes like Ayushman Bharat in the national capital. BJP President J P Nadda also addressed public meetings in the city and attacked Aam Aadmi Party and Congress.

Meanwhile, AAP Convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal participated in roadshows at Bawana and Narela and sought vote for his party candidates. He highlighted his government's work related to water, electricity and eduction in the last five years.

On the other hand, Congress has accused BJP and Aam Aadmi Party of seeking votes by making only tall promises instead of highlighting work done by them. Addressing election meetings in different parts of the city today, party Delhi Unit Chief Subhash Chopra said, people of Delhi are agitated against both the parties.

Ahead of the Budget session of Parliament, Government has convened an all party meeting on Thursday to ensure smooth transaction of business in the both Houses of Parliament. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has also called an all party meeting on Thursday evening. During the meeting, Mr Birla will seek cooperation from the floor leaders of different parties in the Lok Sabha to ensure smooth transaction of business in the Lower House. Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu is also scheduled to hold an all party meeting. Budget session of Parliament will start from Friday.


In Jammu and Kashmir, preparations are in full swing to hold first ever Global Investors' Summit in the month of April this year. The Global Investors’ Summit, with the theme of Explore, Invest and Grow, is a platform that will bring together senior entrepreneurs, leaders from corporate sector across the country, senior policymakers, development agencies, investors from across the world and local businessmen.

The main aim is to exhibit the different investment opportunities available in the newly formed UT of J&K in various sectors. All this is being done to lead Jammu and Kashmir on a path of development, so that it becomes an economic paradise for investors.

In Tennis, Rafael Nadal, Stan Wawrinka, Dominic Thiem and  Simona Halep have reached the Australian Open quarter-finals. Spanish top seed Rafael Nadal battled past rival Nick Kyrgios in a thrilling four-set match. Nadal will face Austrian fifth seed Dominic Thiem in the last eight.

Stan Wawrinka produced some of his best tennis to battle past fourth seed Daniil Medvedev.

Dominic Thiem also advanced with a clinical win over Gael Monfils.  He will now face Rafael Nadal.
